So, I'll ramble on a bit and hope that something important comes out :0)


I have also been desperately attempting to get a leg up on all my emails. I have been very bad at keeping in touch with just about everyone I know lately. I need to make some phone calls (which I'm horrible at motivating for, dunno why), and emailing others. I'm working on it. If you are reading this and want to help me out a bit, especially if I haven't been in touch for some time, please send me an email!! Or call me. But in all seriousness, please don't feel like I'm neglecting anyone... I'm just wrapped up in my own little world and am attempting to reach beyond these borders.




My Amaryllis...Have you seen anything like this mutant?

First, Thank you Susi!! This lovely bloomed in the spring and then it bloomed again this October. But, it didn't just bloom, it mutant bloomed a trio! Gorgeous fall rusty orange colored blooms. It must be a sign of how much I have been thinking about you and Brian. Missed you this year. We really wanted to get back up for a visit to Northern Idaho, but this year we have just been staying home a lot and laying low. Being crafty and studying hard.

We got around 8 or 9" of snow about a week ago, but it has since melted away. It was nearly 70Degrees yesterday! Very nice. Cannot complain about the weather we have had in October this year. Typically in Colorado, Halloween day (today) is cold and either rainy or snowy. This year looks as if it will be pretty nice. We aren't going out tonight. We had two events in the past week and that is enough. We went to Woodland Park to the Ute Pass Cultural Center and played some games and got Sophie's face painted and had a photo taken of the three of us.
Then on Tuesday, we had a Fall Party at school. Sophie's teacher, Sandy Struble, dressed as Einstein and did some fun science experiments for the kids and then many parents and siblings came to the classroom for some cupcakes and other goodies. Much fun.
So, tonight, it's pumpkin carving night, just us.



Mom, Lisa, Jennifer & all those volunteering during this election time- THANK YOU!! I wish I could be there with you volunteering my heart out... But I'm with you in spirit and appreciating you all so much and the hard work you are doing to make an impact on The United States of America for the next four years of presidency.
And to all of you who have already voted, and all of you who will vote on Tuesday and those of you who are voting for the first time EVER, I CHEER FOR YOU!!

With health (eating without cholesterol, chemicals, hydrogenated oil, trans fats, GMO's), the environment (pollution, factory farming being the highest cause of green house gasses), and animal cruelty (downer cows, CA's prop 2) in the news heftily recently, I think this is appropriate.
Consider having a Gentle Thanksgiving this year. The nearly 300 million turkeys killed each year in the U.S. spend their entire lives crammed in large dark sheds with little room to move. Artificially inseminated and selectively bred and genetically modified to gain enormous amounts of weight.
Turkey flesh is loaded with cholesterol and saturated fats, which have been linked conclusively with an elevated risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and other chronic diseases that kill 1.3 million Americans annually.
In addition to threatening personal health, factory farming is a global problem. Much of the 10 billion pounds of manure generated by 7,300 turkey farms in 33 states ends up in our drinking water. Grain fed to turkeys is denied to millions of starving people in the world's most impoverished nations.

Candy is Dandy... When it's vegan! (har har har) OK, so I'm lame. I can't even come up with my own halloween originals. Please forgive me and trust me when I say that my eyelids are being held up by toothpicks and that it's been a v e r y l o n g b u s y w e e k. thank you for understanding. :0)
Anyhow...here is PeTA's list of vegan halloween candy. Please vote with the one thing that actually counts: the bottom line: cold hard cash. If you buy candy that does not support cruelty to animals (even if accidentally) It makes a difference!

This list includes very common and easy to find mainstream candies like dum-dums, dots, Jujubees, Sour Patch Kids, Twizzlers & Zots!
