I received an AWESOME card yesterday. Some of my friends from Cruelty Free went to the Animal Rights Convention and knew I was missing them badly. They got together and sent me a card. . .I do feel loved and I am going to cry from happiness!

Warning about plastics and microwave, a cancer update from John Hopkins Hospital, USA - Use no plastic containers in microwave. No water bottles in freezer. No plastic wrap in microwave. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. The combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food & ultimately into the cells of the body. Use glass containers for heating food. You get the same results, only without the dioxin. Plastic wrap is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Try not use the microwave at all because it changes and destroys our food.

Veg-o-lution "Global demand for meat has multiplied in recent years, encouraged by growing affluence and nourished by the proliferation of huge, confined animal feeding operations. These assembly-line meat factories consume enormous amounts of energy, pollute water supplies, generate significant greenhouse gases and require ever-increasing amounts of corn, soy, and other grains, a dependency that has led to the destruction of vast swath of the world's tropical rain forest." - The New York Times

The Magic Forest 08/02/2008

[This blog moved from a page that I deleted, it was Originally posted  05/15/2008]
Sophie calls our favorite place "the magic forest."

It's an amazing place. Our nature sanctuary. Hiking, camping, picnicking - I put together a slide show of some photos we have taken while nourishing ourselves in it's peace. I'm not going to name the place by it's official map name, but I'll show you where it is if you want. It's about 4 or 5 miles from our house. . .so, come on up!

Oh, and I think that photos of nature do not capture it's entire essence.
enjoy!

Nice Nieces 08/02/2008

Meet Ellah. . .she's now 8 months old. Born on New Years Day!  She is my second niece, and just as adorable as the first one, Olivia.

Here is Olivia, sporting the dolphin princess face painting. They were at a company picnic. It's amazing how fast these girls grow up. Olivia is three months older than Sophie.  We need to get these kids together again soon!! Last fall's camping trip in Idaho was a blast. I'll have to dig out some of those photos and post a slide show soon. I'll add that to my list of things to do :0)
